AFTER 10 heats, which started in January, the final of this year’s Battle of the Bands competition takes place on Sunday.
Five acts – Flint Moore, Hot Raisin, The Wise Naive, Mammal Not Fish and Sam Coe and The Longshadows – will take centre stage at The Duke’s Head in King’s Lynn for a 4pm start.
More than 40 bands have taken part in the rounds and Flint Moore and The Wise Naive booked their place after the second semi-final, held last weekend at the William Burt Centre in West Winch. Hot Raisin also went through as the highest scoring third placed act.
Triston Finnis, of competition organisers Twisted Melon Promotions, said the weekend was a strongly fought event. “I’ve been doing this event for seven years and attending and putting on gigs for many more. This was without doubt, the strongest semi-final we’ve ever had and the final five acts are some of the best I’ve seen locally.”
As well as taking the Twisted Melon Battle of the Bands title, the winner will support Busted at Lynn’s Festival Too on July 18 and the runner-up will support KT Tunstall on July 8 at the festival.
Mr Finnis said Sunday’s final was set to feature the “strongest set of acts we’ve ever had in a final”.
