SMOKE: A reader’s picture of the grass fire near the hospital

Firefighters from King’s Lynn were called to a grass fire off the A149 near the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at King’s Lynn on Wednesday.

Three crews from King’s Lynn, one from Sandringham and one from Thetford  attended the blaze at around 12.30pm.

Firefighters used hand appliances and back pack sprayers to bring the blaze under control.

Smoke from the blazing reed and dried grass, between the Gaywood river and the Gayton Road hospital, was visible for several miles.
