INTERNATIONAL Hanse Day was celebrated in King’s Lynn with a weekend of special events and activities.

The occasion also marked the 12th anniversary of King’s Lynn’s membership of the new Hanse.

The activities included walks which explored the town’s historic links with Hanseatic ports, tours, a book launch, live music at King’s Staithe Square and displays of medieval dancing in the town hall where there was a host of family activities.

Stories of Lynn also hosted a new Hanse exhibition.

Characters were out and about in the town in medieval costumes and there were stalls and refreshments on the quay.

A number of West Norfolk businesses had clubbed together to sponsor a grand fireworks display on Saturday night at the end of an evening of live music. The sponsors included Your Local Paper.

The weekend also saw the annual West Norfolk Borough Council-organised spring plant and craft fair which was held on the Tuesday Market Place. The fair included demonstrations of chainsaw carving, displays by West Norfolk and King’s Lynn Beekeepers’ Association and activities for children.
