West Norfolk’s Georgie Lingham takes on a Medway tackler

RUGBY UNION: West Warriors welcomed 10 teams to the second West Norfolk Rugby Women’s 10s festival.

Wests had a fantastic first day, winning all five games in their pool from a high of 39-0 against Sleaford to a hard-fought 12-10 over Blackheath, putting them straight into the semi-finals.

Blackheath proved too much for a tired Wests team at the second attempt and the Championship side went on to win the tournament, overcoming reigning champions Kenilworth in the final.

Before the finale, Wests fielded a junior team in a match against u14 players from Kenilworth.

Women and girls of any experience are welcome at club training on Wednesdays from 7pm at the club in Gatehouse Lane, North Wootton.
