CYCLING: The King’s Lynn Cycling Club evening time trial season got under way last Wednesday.

Despite the cool temperatures, there were some impressive times with Jorge Vieira completing the 10-mile course in exactly 21 minutes to take victory.

Runner-up was Ben Stancombe in 22.27 while Ray Barnett started the year with a personal best of 23.35, pipping James Senter for third place.

The juniors category was hotly contested with all three posting times below the half hour. Fastest was Bethany Barnett, 13, in 28.41. Alec Marshall, 15, was second in 29.29, followed by 13-year-old Tye Rugg, 29.56.

The old school categories, for those riding traditional bikes, were won by Simon Light (men, 25.12) and Heather Rugg (ladies, 35.05).

Other times: Stephen Twell 24.33, Jonny Falcao 25.34, Jonathan Kidman 25.37, Chris Levy 26.41, Ming Lo 28.27, Simon Hardy 31.22.

Preparations continue apace for the King’s Lynn Weekend of Cycling on June 3 and 4.
