Whitefriars Primary School was overtaken by pirates when Key stage 2 pupils put on a swashbuckling show for their parents and special guest West Norfolk Mayor  David Whitby.

Pirates of the Curry Bean is a musical about a family who finds a treasure map which is then stolen by pirates ending in a race to find the treasure.

Year six teacher Alex Rasberry who directed the production, along with teaching partner Sarah Spooner, said: “We have been practising it since the end of October and it has been a real child-centred activity.

“Pupils have gone away and learnt their lines and sorted out their own costumes, and the art club made all the props.

“The mayor really enjoyed it and had some lovely things to say.”

Pupils put on two performances on Wednesday and Thursday before the end of term, with money raised going to school funds.
