FOOTBALL: A patched-up King’s Lynn Town side went down to their second successive home defeat of the week as Dunstable stole all the points with a late goal at The Walks on Saturday.

The Linnets followed up the previous Tuesday’s 2-1 Southern League defeat against St Neots with a single-goal loss to Dunstable Town.

With the defensive trio of Ryan Fryatt, Tom Ward and Sam Gaughran out through injury, manager Ian Culverhouse handed debuts to recent signing from Peterborough Sam Cartwright and reserve player Ryan Harnwell. Ryan Lennon also made his league debut as substitute.

Before the game Lynn, were dealt a huge blow with the news that star midfielder Shaun McWilliams had been recalled by parent club Northampton Town and was on the bench for them in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Oxford United.

The home side started brightly and it was teenager Harnwell who went close on two occasions.

A cluster of Linnets players all had chances, including Jacek Zielonka, who forced visiting goalkeeper Jack Smith into a good one-handed stop.

The Lynn injury list grew again on the hour mark when Jordan Yong was forced off with a hamstring injury and was replaced by reserve team captain Tom McLeish.

The visitors had the ball in the net when Josh Oyinsan headed home with 11 minutes remaining but it was ruled offside.

With the game heading for a stalemate, the visitors stole all the points.

Substitutes James Verney and Jet Esso linked up for the latter to score past Alex Street in the dying minutes.
