ANGLING: A very good coarse fishing season draws to a close today at the Nar Valley Fisheries complex.

Fenn Lake has probably been the most consistent water, popping out good quality carp to 37lb and Wels catfish to 60lb 2oz. This week turned up a number of 20lb-plus carp.

Lake Geneva has produced numerous 20 and 30lb carp, with a few slipping over 40lb throughout the season.

Four 20lb-plus carp have been reported this week, with the best a 35lb 8oz mirror.

Tickets for the new season will be on sale at the beginning of April.

Hobbs Lake Trout Fishery hosts an open day to introduce anglers to the 25-acre season ticket water on April 8.

Gates open at 9am and visitors can talk to staff and existing members as well as try the fishery with catch and release fishing free on the day.

λ Blackdyke Trout Fishery enjoyed another brilliant week’s fishing.

Conditions seemed perfect, resulting in a record rod average of nine for the week since June.

Buzzers, cats whiskers and squirmy worms yielded the highest numbers.

John Parker caught an 8lb rainbow using a buzzer and Stan Brown, from Wisbech, had a personal best at Blackdyke over two visits.

Tomorrow sees the Troutmasters fish off. Anglers should arrive between 8.30am and 9am for a 9.30 start.

The fishery will be open as usual with a complimentary lunch for all anglers (both competitors and clients).
