A GAYWOOD couple were able to make a diamond presentation after asking for donations instead of gifts to celebrate a marriage milestone.

Alan and Ruth Vincent marked their 60th wedding anniversary on February 11 with a party for more than 70 guests at the North Lynn Masonic Centre.

Their celebrations raised £550 which was presented to representatives of Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS). The charity of volunteer doctors and paramedics has used the donation to pay for a heart monitor/defibrillator.

The couple’s actual anniversary date was February 16. Mrs Vincent explained that she was taken ill last August and a paramedic came to her aid. She said that prompted them to ask for donations rather than gifts.

Carl Smith and Paul Strutt went to the couple’s home to accept the cheque on behalf of NARS.
