THE Rotary Club of King’s Lynn celebrated its 90th anniversary with special guests from far and wide.
A 90th charter night dinner and dance was held at Lynn Town Hall last Friday.
Among the guests was national Rotary president Eve Conway, from the Rotary Club of Redbridge, and the presidents of several East Anglian clubs formed by Lynn over the years.
Members also welcomed West Norfolk Mayor and Mayoress David and Linda Whitby and Rotary district governor Derek Rothwell, from the Woodbridge Deben Club to the celebrations.
The historic town hall was also bathed in purple light last Friday night to support Rotary’s campaign to eradicate polio worldwide.
Lynn Rotary Club was chartered on September 24, 1926 and the first meeting was held at the Globe Hotel.
In the last year alone, members have raised more than £43,000 for charity and supported a wide range of campaigns.
The club meets at the Stuart House Hotel, in Goodwins Road, on Mondays and new members are welcome.
