FOOTBALL: A new year has brought a new kit for Reffley Rangers u16s, thanks to a £500 donation from minerals firm Sibelco.

Reffley chairman and manager Mark Kilvington said: “The firm has already sponsored Rangers with a training/away kit, so the support they have shown the club has been fantastic.”

Sibelco’s Simon Mace said: “We’re always happy to support local teams when we can. Sport is important to the community in so many ways.”

λ Downham Town Blues u12 were 4-0 winners against Walpole after working hard to break down a well-organised team.

The only goal in a tight first half came when Ben Terry headed home Harrison Brant’s excellent cross.

It took Downham until deep into the second half to add to their tally, but Jevan Cook, Terry and Brant put distance between the sides.
