Members of King’s Lynn  Sea Cadets have been recognised for their achievements.

The unit’s annual presentation evening was held at the town’s TS Vancouver on Friday where trophies and certificates were presented by West Norfolk Mayor, David Whitby.

Able Cadet Bethany Porter received the coveted Best Dressed Cadet award for the third consecutive year.

The unit’s commanding officer, Sean Moore, said this was the main trophy the cadets aspired to win. “It represents a very high standard of dress from ceremonial to working dress,”  he said.

The awards covered all areas of seamanship and sportsmanship.

There was also a special presentation of a certificate of recognition to Tom Barritt, who retired last year as the cadet officer.

Lieutenant Commander Mr Barritt has been involved with both the Lynn and Wisbech Sea Cadet units during his many years of involvement with the organisation.

Members of the Swaffham branch of the Royal Naval Association  gave the unit £250  as a thank you for its assistance at events and functions throughout the year.
