GYMNASTICS: A King’s Lynn Gymnastics star has been celebrating a successful year.

Sam Slater has been training at the Lynnsport-based club for the past 10 years.

After starting at national level in both tumbling and acro, three years ago he started training for international level tumbling and qualified for the British Championships in 2016, finishing ninth overall.

Slater then got picked to represent Great Britain in tumbling and competed at the Loule Cup in Portugal in October, where he managed to finish fourth overall, missing the bronze medal position by just 0.1 of a mark.

He also came away with a team gold medal for one of the highest scores in the competition.

Alive Leisure and King’s Lynn Gymnastics Club sent their congratulations to Slater and his coach Trudi Nicholson on this great achievement.

Lynn Gymnastics Club head coach Jimmy Xu said: “We are very proud of Sam and Trudi’s hard work and they are both a great asset to the team at Lynnsport.”

The Alive Leisure team is now looking forward to future stars starting their gymnastic journey at the club.
