ROLLER HOCKEY: Reigning National League champions King’s Lynn are back at the top of the Premier Division table after a 6-1 win at previous leaders Soham.

After a nervous start, Lynn took the lead when Michael Carter found the net after a mistake by the Soham defence.

Carter soon added a second as Soham’s unbeaten record started to show signs of crumbling as a clever piece of individual play saw him skip past a defender and neatly tuck away the ball into the top corner of the net.

Soham were rattled and began to lose their discipline.

Lynn’s third goal came from the penalty spot through Josh Taylor. A fourth goal soon followed with Jack Tucker tipping the ball past the watching goalkeeper at the far post.

A Soham player had a moment of madness and was shown a straight red card for violent conduct just before the half-time break.

With Soham down to three players, it took Lynn only 30 seconds to make it 5-0 when Carter popped up to complete his hat-trick.

Frustrated Soham kept making silly fouls and a direct free hit for reaching 10 team fouls saw man of the match Jamie Griffin slot the ball into the back of the net for the sixth goal.

Lynn took their foot off the gas and conceded a late consolation to the hosts.
