BADMINTON: West Norfolk junior players Harry and Charlie Wakefield have struck gold at England national events.
Harry, 11, partnered Suffolk’s Chloe Dennis in an u13 gold level at Lilleshall for the top players from England and Scotland.
The pair won through to the final where, after sharing the first two games, won the decider 21-16 against the top seeds from Bucks/Warwickshire to take the title and the gold medal.
In the singles, Harry met the second ranked player in the country and pushed him close match, eventually losing 21-16, 21-17.
Older brother Charlie won singles gold and doubles silver in the u16 bronze level event in Ely.
He stunned Tobias Goddard from Hertfordshire in the final, winning 21-11 to take the gold medal.
In the doubles, Charlie partnered Aruneesh Velu from Norwich and the pair reached the final, where they were beaten 21-17 by the No.1 seeds and had to settle for a silver medal.
