SPEEDWAY: A semi-final place in the final Grand Prix of the season was just enough to secure King’s Lynn Stars No.1 Niels-Kristian Iversen a place in the 2017 series.
The Danish ace scored 12 points in Melbourne, Australia, to finish on 91 points, just one ahead of Matej Zagar and Maciej Janowski, to secure the final automatic qualifying slot.
Iversen told www.kingslynnstars.co: “It was so intense, not knowing whether I was going to make it or not, but it feels so good now to know I’m back in the GPs next year.
“I was disappointed I didn’t make the final but it’s still a good result and it was good enough in the end to put me back in the series for 2017
Chris Holder won the event but Greg Hancock was crowned world champion, finishing the series nine points ahead of Tai Woffinden.
