BASKETBALL: King’s Lynn Fury opened their National League campaign with a home defeat – but there were positives for head coach James Bamfield to take from the game.
Fury went down 82-56 against Northants Tauras in their Division Four Midlands opener at Lynnsport after making a slow start in the opening couple of quarters.
After the game Bamfield said: “I like the group of players which we’ve got. I believe once we get a win under our belts and a bit of confidence, then we will fly.
“We made some basic mistakes but hopefully the players will learn from those.
“Northants had a lot of experience in their line-up and I’d be surprised if we meet a better team this season.”
Fury trailed 48-29 at the break but improved after half-time, winning the final quarter 19-17.
Ethan Allen led the points scoring with 18, supported by Jack Ford with seven and Matthew Roberts, who has just been selected for the Wales U-23 squad, with six.
On Sunday, Fury travel to Team Wolverhampton.
