ROLLER HOCKEY: Reigning England National League champions King’s Lynn warmed up for the new season with an international tournament in France.
They competed against teams from France, Germany, Switzerland and a fellow English side at Saint Omer.
Lynn started with a 6-3 win over old rivals Herne Bay United but found hosts SCRA Saint Omer a much tougher nut to crack.
After leading 1-0 at half-time, the Norfolk team conceded four goals in five minutes and ended up losing 5-1.
Lynn again led in their third game, going ahead against Swiss side Montreux. But the long journey and two previous high intensity games took their toll and the Swiss side ran out 6-2 victors.
The fourth game of the weekend saw TUS Dusseldorf up for revenge after losing out to Lynn on penalties in a previous tournament.
The Germans stormed into a 3-0 lead before Lynn responded but it was not enough to avoid a 6-3 defeat.
Two late goals earned Lynn a 4-4 draw in their final match against Swiss champions RHC Diessbach, who will be competing in the Champions League this season.
The Lynn team consisted of Will Martin, Kathryn Baker, Matthew Baker, Ryan Barnes, Michael Carter, Jamie Griffin, Sam Kay, Josh Taylor and Jack Tucker.
