Mr Twit, Willy Wonka and The Grand High Witch was just some of the characters who appeared at a West Norfolk school this week.

To mark what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday, pupils at Holly Meadows School in Pott Row took part in a dressing-up day.

Teachers also got involved in the fun, with head teacher Jennie Wildsmith appearing as Mike Teavee from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

“It was super day and great fun,” said Mrs Wildsmith.

“We held activities in the classrooms and we had Mr Twit take the assembly!”

She added pupils at the school studied Roald Dahl books.

“All pupils from the ages of four to 11 got involved. We like to promote books and reading,” she said.

“The stories have such vivid characters. There is something for everyone.”
