ATHLETICS: Ryston Runners continued their 30th anniversary celebrations with an impressive showing at the Dereham 5K.

A well-attended social event on Friday was followed when almost 20 runners took away 10 category prizes in their August Race of the Month.

More than 300 runners completed the run and Ryston Runners were well to the fore.

Second home overall was Callum Stanforth in 16.23, winning the second senior man trophy.

Warren Armstrong was just under a minute behind, cleaning up in the M40s and ninth overall in 17.17.

Martin Sheldrick, 26th overall, won the M45 category in 18.27 and Pete Johnson, 38th, did likewise in the M60s, with 18.54.

Ryston’s women also did well.

Lorena Latisaite ran a personal best time of 20.10 to finish 72nd overall (fourth senior woman) and first places came in the W40 and W45 categories for Lesley Robins and Pauline Drewery, 90th and 116th, with times of 20.56 and 22.00 respectively.

Jo Isbill finished third in the W50 category and 139th overall but took just over 20 seconds off the club age group record for the distance, set three years ago over the same course, with a new mark of 22.37.

Also recording a personal best was Adam Howard, finishing 16th in the race with 17.36.

Other Ryston finishers were: 32nd Neil Stapleton 18.39 PB, 43rd Shaun Mann 19.05, 48th Stewart Robins 18.18, 68th Ian Milburn 20.10, 81st Jonathan Hawes 20.35, 87th Darren Smith 20.47, 100th Jan Manning 21.15, 234th Mick Ennis 27.35, 244th Andrew Green 27.56 and 264th Andy Harrod 29.11.
