A major roadworks project on the A149 at Heacham is due to begin on Monday.
Norfolk County Council is installing a new roundabout on Red Gate Hill, at the junction with Hunstanton Road.
Work was due to start on August 1, but the seven-month project was postponed until after the school holidays following concerns raised by the parish council and residents.
The roadworks are expected to cause considerable disruption and Hunstanton Road is to be closed at the A149 junction until March 31 next year.
Once complete, the roundabout will provide access to a new 166-home development being built by Hopkins Homes to the south of Hunstanton.
The county council has told residents no work or traffic control will take place on the A149 before October 31 and Hunstanton Road will be re-opened as soon as possible.
Heacham Parish Council has objected to the roundabout, suggesting that access closer to Hunstanton would make more sense, either through Searles land or Harry’s Way.
The county council wrote to residents in July saying the start date had been moved following feedback from its original consultation letter.
