A West Norfolk bed and breakfast has emerged as the winner of a reality television programme.

No.33 Hunstanton has featured in Channel 4’s Four in a Bed which involved four bed and breakfast owners taking turns to stay with one another – and pay what they considered a fair price.

Manageress Janie Thompson, who also has holiday cottages in Thornham and Brancaster Staithe, said she had seen a big increase in bookings since the programme aired last month.

“The response has been phenomenal – we have seen our Twitter hits go from 80 to 4,000  overnight,” she said.

“There has been a huge amount of interest and people have even asked where we got our wallpaper from.”

Mrs Thompson, also co-owner of Thornham Deli, was approached by television producers twice before.

She and housekeeper Gemma Layfield decided to take part.

“We thought about it long and hard,” said Mrs Thompson.

“But we have a product that we really believe in and we know we are good.”

Filming took place over a week and Mrs Thompson and Mrs Layfield stayed at eight different guesthouses travelling 1,000 miles.

“We weren’t allowed to interact with the other couples, unless we were being filmed and there was so much waiting around,” she said.

“But it was all terribly worthwhile.”
