Youngsters at Upwell Primary School got their hands dirty during a special learning session.
The school has a learning cafe where pupils take turns each term to get involved in a range of activities.
This term, the four and five-year-olds in reception class have used the cafe to practice writing in a fun way.
Headteacher Douglas Dale said the session involved using sand, chalks, painting and making letter shapes.
Parents were invited to take part with pupils from Admiral class.
Mr Dale said three cafe sessions were held a year and the previous term had seen the ten and 11-year-olds take part in art and craft activities during their cafe session.
Mr Dale said the feedback from parents had been very positive. The comments ranged from ‘fantastic’ and ‘messy’ to calls for it to be repeated, he said.
