West Norfolk ground out a hard fought win in their final home match of their 2015-16 league campaign.
A second-half comeback secured a 15-13 victory against Essex-based Wanstead.
Despite having gained a hefty 67-17 victory at Wanstead earlier in the season, West were aware it would not be such an easy task this time. The visitors had brought in five overseas players since the previous meeting.
Lewys Weaver saw an early kick at goal hit a post but made amends soon after to open the scoring.
However, West then sat back and allowed Wanstead to come at them and they took the invitation by the scruff of the neck, scoring two tries in quick succession to take a 10-3 lead into the break.
West came out fighting at the start of the second half with some powerful line breaks from the Williamson brothers, Jamie and Lee, combined with some fierce rucking from flankers Will Greenwood and Freddie Playford. That paid off when prop Paul Denton crashed over to close the gap at 10-8.
Paul Denton was rewarded for a fantastic running line to touch down by the posts. Weaver added the conversion to hand West a 15-10 lead.
Wanstead came back strongly in the last quarter. They narrowed the gap to two points and then came close to snatching the win but missed a penalty.
The Adrian Flux man of the match award went to Jamie Williamson.
