FOOTBALL: A goal-laden second-half display saw King’s Lynn Town book a place in the next round of the FA Trophy as they saw off Belper Town 5-1 in Tuesday’s replay at The Walks.

The Linnets will travel to Nantwich Town on November 14 in the second qualifying round after stepping up the pace against their Northern Premier League South Division visitors.

Anton Wedderburn clipped the home bar in the early stages but Lynn took the lead after 20 minutes when Liam Hurst’s cross was headed home by Lee Smith for his first Linnets goal.

The impressive Evan Garnett levelled just before the interval but the second half was one-way traffic.

Lee Stevenson was hauled down by Phil Watt inside the box and Michael Clunan stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.

Liam Hurst added a third 15 minutes later with substitute Toby Hilliard netting a double to bring up the nap-hand.

Evan Garrett’s strike 10 minutes from time had prevented Lynn from picking up a victory in Saturday’s original tie.

Skipper Ryan Fryatt smashed the visitors into an early lead when the young centre back fired home a volley at the back post following David Bridges’ cross.

The home side piled on the pressure in the final stages but could not force a winner with Jonathan Williams having a couple of dangerous free-kicks kept out by Alex Street.

Lynn had a chance to steal the game in the dying minutes when Michael Clunan’s free-kick was well saved by Danny Haystead in the home goal.
