Some of the King’s Lynn Cycling Club riders who supported Harpley School with their sponsored events.

CYCLING: Kay Burgess made her 50-mile time trial debut with a 2.11.22 time at Sunday’s Breckland CC VTTA East Anglian Championship. 

Other King’s Lynn CC times were: Simon Hardy 2.07.52, Steve Neill 1.52.00 and David Procter 1.57.17.

Several riders from the club were at Harpley village school’s fundraising day. Children  completed a six-mile course with sponsored riders also taking part in a 40-mile ride to Holkham Hall and back.

The club also provided a Go Ride for the children, run by coach Ray Barnett.

  •  The Aviva Tour of Britain bypassed West Norfolk but several teams stayed locally for the north Norfolk stage from Fakenham.

Belgian team Etixx Quick-Step, Denmark’s Cult Energy Pro Energy, Dutch outfits Team Lotto and Jumbo, as well as British sides JLT Condor and Madison Genesis were based at the Heacham Manor Hotel. 

Youngsters from King’s Lynn CC were invited to visit the hotel and were extremely well received by the cyclists, who signed autographs and had their pictures taken. Cyclists included Mark Cavendish, Mark Renshaw, Ed Clancy, Zdenek Stybar and stage six winner Matteo Trentin.
