Darren Cubitt loses his wicket in North Runcton A’s defeat at home to Hardingham on Saturday.

North Runcton are back in the driving seat for the Norfolk Alliance Division One title.

While they were beating Horsford by three wickets, leaders Garboldisham were losing to Acle. It leaves Runcton only 12 points behind with a match in hand – against second-bottom Topcroft on Monday, after playing rock-bottom Beccles tomorrow.

Ben Coote (4-25) and Harry Lankfer (3-17) helped bowl Horsford out for 152.

In reply, Nick Freeman (21) and Coote (27) made good contributions before a quickfire 28 from Clanpress man of the match Lankfer set up a victorious total of 154/7.

In the Premier Division, Stow are at Brooke in their last game tomorrow. To avoid the drop, they need to overhaul a 13-point deficit on Swardeston A, who are at bottom-placed Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers.

Downham beat Wanderers by seven wickets, thanks to an unbroken 116-run stand between Nick Kelly (66no) and captain Duncan Lanchester (47no).

Downham A and North Runcton A suffered heavy defeats in Division Three and will be hoping they have done enough to avoid getting dragged into the relegation places.

It is all to play for at the foot of Division Four, where Stow A and Dersingham A meet on Monday in a relegation decider, depending on tomorrow’s results. Stow trail their West Norfolk rivals by 10 points and are at home to champions Winterton, while Dersingham travel to mid-table Sheringham.

Already-crowned Division Six champions, Bircham kept their foot on the gas with a seven-wicket victory over Horsford B to stretch their lead to 57 points.
