Skatersy were in action in London.

SKATING: Walpole Highway-based Wisbech Inline Speed Skaters have cashed in at the Lee Valley Velopark.

Eight skaters from the team competed at the London Olympics venue and returned with two third places, two seconds and a £50 prize -winning show from Eve McInerney in the female cadets event. The London Speed Skaters hosted the event, which was open to entrants from throughout the UK and Europe.

It included a 30-minute quad and inline endurance challenge, a half marathon and a full marathon with almost 150 skaters competing across the three races.

Other medallists were Mike McInerney, who was second in the mens’ seniors, Jo Tidman, second in the ladies veterans, Oli Johnson, third in the male cadets and Flynn McGurk, third in the pupil boys category.

Dylan Taylor, Harrison Tuck and Barrie Wiles also competed.

The team are in Belgium this week, competing in the Flanders Grand Prix European Championships, with 13 year old Eve McInerney representing Great Britain.
