The wet weekend failed to stop people from enjoying a summer fete at Lynn Minster on Saturday.
A decision was made in the morning to set-up the stalls inside and Peter Johnson, one of the organisers, said the amount raised made all the work worthwhile.
“We set up in the church and beat last year’s figure,” said Mr Johnson, who estimated around £1,600 had been raised towards the general upkeep of the historic building.
Mr Johnson said about a dozen people went on the tower tours. He said the cake stall did a “magnificent” trade and the raffle was well supported.
The fete was organised by the church’s fundraising group, which is headed by Mr Johnson and Sue Nulty
The Rev Laura Baker, who has been a curate at The Minster for a year, said she was delighted the fete had been so well supported.
“We raised more than last year,” said Rev Baker, who was ordained on July 4 as a priest.
