West Norfolk AC enjoyed a gold-laden day in the Norfolk Track and Field Championships at Lynnsport.

U20 sprinter Tayla Benson led the way with a pair of personal best times earning her county titles in both the 100m (12.6) and 100m hurdles (14.9), a club and championship record.

Two titles came for the u13 boys with Arthur Knight’s hammer throw of 18.68 a club record and Alfie Williams’ 7.10m a personal best in the shot.

Six county firsts came to the u15s with Nathan Smalls (long jump, 4.91 PB), Mason Higby (discus, 23.69 PB), Charlie Williams (300m, 40.9 PB and county record), Lucy Koenigsburger (hammer, 32.27 club record), Emily Owen (discus, 20.76) and Abigail Rice (100m, 13.2 PB) all topping the rankings.

Rahim Benson chalked up another for the u17s in the 100m hurdles (15.1 PB) with James Greenhalgh (110m hurdles, 15.7) and Megan Rushmore (hammer, 43.06) crowned county royalty in the u20s.

The seniors chipped in with three more – Matthew Bailey (110m hurdles, 16.2 PB), Ben Collison (400m, 66.7) and Nicky Neill (800m, 2.30.4).

West Norfolk’s tally was taken to 17 country titles by veteran Adam Dewdney who won the 100m in 14.3.

Many more silver and bronze medals were won by the prolific West team, who also achieved a glut of personal best times and new club records.
