Stoke Ferry's Andrew Carter holds off a challenge

FOOTBALL: A third consecutive nine-goal haul sees Castle Acre Swifts closing in on a remarkable 200 goals for the season.

The reigning Crown Fire Central & South Norfolk League champions pulled three points clear on Tuesday with a 9-0 demolition of Stoke Ferry to add to Saturday’s 9-1 romp against Bridgham United.

That took their league tally to 86 in 13 games with another 94 in 19 cup ties.

They have four games left to find another 20 to hit the magic double ton.

Craig Warnes 3, Craig Burton 2, Luke Askew 2, Jamie Butters and Daniel King hit the net on Saturday with King blasting five against Ferry to add to strikes from Craig Warnes, Dave Weaver-Pope, Luke Askew and an opponent.

Four more points will secure a record-breaking third consecutive league title.

Stoke Ferry had done well on Saturday, winning 3-1 at third-placed Tacolneston thanks to strikes from Chris Green, Matthew Kenny and Matthew Herring

The top four in Division Two were in direct competition. Leaders Narborough were held to a 1-1 draw by Mulbarton Wanderers A but Ash Borgognoni’s goal was enough to confirm promotion.

Marham Wanderers’ promotion hopes were snuffed out by Beetley Bees, who ran out 2-1 winners. Paul Clarke’s 20-yard half volley was the consolation.

The May 9 confrontation between Narborough and Beetley could well settle the title.

Castle Acre Reserves kept up their Division Three promotion hopes with two wins over North Elmham Reserves. Rob Powley, Karl Warnes, Charlie Gunner and Myles Hunt scored in Saturday’s 4-1 home win with a brace from Charlie Gunner earning a swift double in the away return.

Feltwell United Reserves were 5-3 victors over promotion-chasing Tacolneston Reserves.
