Howard Junior School in Gaywood held its own celebrity-style end-of-term celebration assembly.

Around 200 pupils were rewarded for their attendance, achievement, impeccable manners and behaviour and  Rainbow awards for children with special needs were also given out.

The awards were presented last Friday by guest speaker Alan Taylor, managing director of Your Local Paper.

Mr Taylor spoke about the success of the paper since its launch two years ago and headteacher Gregory Hill said it had been an “inspirational speech”.

“Alan is a local entrepreneur, a successful businessman and someone who is involved in the community,” said Mr Hill.

The ceremony included a video made by the school called Kind of Magic shown on a big screen.

Photographs of the pupils also appeared on the screen as they collected their awarda from Mr Taylor.

The pupils received Easter eggs and certificates which had been individually tailored to each reflect each pupil’s achievement.

WH Smith vouchers were presented to pupils who received “golden” awards for success in various ways.

Mr Hill said families and friends were invited to the ceremony as they had also played an important part in the school’s success.

Mr Taylor added: “It’s always a pleasure to visit the school and it was an honour to play a role in celebrating the children’s success.”
