HOCKEY: All seven players gave an impressive display as Pelicans u12 girls won the Norwich Dragons tournament.
Izzy Pope led the way in the opener with a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Dereham. Poppy Beales scored the other two.
Goals were in short supply in the second match against eventual runners-up Harleston A with a goalless draw the result.
Honours also finished even in match No.3 with four goals shared against Norwich City A, courtesy of Pope and Beales.
The results had unfolded, leaving Pelicans needing a win in their final game against the hosts to clinch glory.
A three-games wait did not faze Pelicans as they set up their stall for victory.
A superb solo run by Pope saw her beat three players and the keeper to open the scoring.
A combination of passes from Amber Scott again found Pope to double her tally.
Hannah Stoutt, Emily Pluck and Amber Scott worked tirelessly and a brilliant run by Scott was rewarded with a short corner.
The ball was injected by Mia Moore and clinically slotted home by Beales to make it 3-0.
The fourth goal came from Moore following a Scott-Pope passing combination and it was 5-0 when a run by Stoutt from defence through midfield saw her thread the ball through to Pope to complete her second hat-trick of the day.
It was an outstanding team performance by all seven players and manager Jane Moore said she couldn’t have asked any more of the girls.
The Players’ Player of the Match award was shared by Lucy Sagrott and Pope with the Manager’s Player of the Match title won by Beales.
