BASKETBALL: CWA Fury are just one win away from making the National League Division Four play-offs after a superb all-round display saw them crush biggest rivals Cambridge Cats 93-59 at Lynnsport on Saturday.

Cats led 14-13 in the early stages but, after a devastating 17-4 burst, Fury were always ahead with Mindaugas Spukas hitting three triples as the hosts built a 53-29 half-time lead.

Six more players weighed in to make the triples total 17 with Spukas 19, Jonas Pranevicius 16 and Eivydas Aleska 13 leading the way as Fury romped to a resounding victory.

Three teams from the East Midland Division will go into the 16-team national knockout play-off format.

Brentwood Fire and Barking and Dagenham Thunder are already through and Fury will join them if they can beat Northants Tauras tomorrow at Lynnsport, 6pm.

Fury won 114-68 in the reverse fixture but cannot afford any complacency as they attempt to overtake Cambridge, who have finished their fixtures.

Fury received superb backing from a large, enthusiastic crowd on Saturday and need similar off-court support tomorrow to extend their season in exciting fashion.
