COMMUNITY SPORTS: The Downham Games have been officially launched this week.

The family-orientated event caters for all ages and is a simple athletics competition with six events.

Held on June 14 at Downham Market’s Memorial Playing Fields, it is supported by A Festival of Sport where local clubs and organisations encourage people to have a go and take part with their sport.

So far archery, boxing, football, tennis, and croquet will be among those represented at the games..

The first year of the Downham Games saw around 80 people take part and upwards of 200 took part last year.

The event is non-profit making and any money raised goes back into it,

Entry fees are £2 for adults and £1 for children. All the come-and-try stands are free to attend.
