FOOTBALL: Not for the first time this season it was ifs, buts and maybes for King’s Lynn Town on the road as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Evo-Stik League Premier Division strugglers Nantwich Town.

Lynn settled the better of the sides and Stephen Spriggs had the best chances for the visitors firing wide after being played in by Jackson Ramm and then going even closer when lobbing the keeper but his effort dropped agonisingly wide of the target.

The home side took the lead minutes before the break when the Lynn back line was caught out by a ball through and Matty Kosylo showed a cool head to score his first goal for the club.

The Linnets came out and took the game to the hosts and were rewarded with a goal.

Young centre back Ryan Fryatt powered home a header from David Bell’s corner for his first goal since the opening day of the season.

A goalmouth scramble nearly saw Lynn take the lead. Henry Eze saw an effort hit a post roll across the line and clip the other post with the follow-up from Gregg Smith blocked on the line by a defender.

The winner came for the home side when Bell’s free-kick cannoned into a Nantwich player. The rebound fell to Max Harrop who played in former Northern Island international Steve Jones and he showed his experience by coolly bending the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

* The Linnets have appointed David Bridges as first team coach. The former Cambridge United, Kettering Town, Stevenage and Histon player, 32, who has an England C cap to his name, will work alongside Neil Fryatt, assisting manager Gary Setchell.
