BILLIARDS: West Acre’s Phill Welham reached the third round of the English National Amateur Championship after qualifying at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
The two-times national champion beat Gary Norman (Peterborough), Arthur Winn (Chelmsford) and Mat Lyons (East Dereham) to top his qualifying group, recording breaks of 157 and 108.
* The West Norfolk League finished runners-up in the annual Collin Extall Memorial event at the Morley Club Sheringham.
The home team from the Alby League won the event after tying with West Norfolk but coming out top by virtue of aggregate points scored.
West Norfolk were represented by Dean Bavister, John Heyhoe, Mark Tims and Phill Welham. Welham scored for West Norfolk highest break, 108.
The Narbeck Junior League squad of Jack Easter, Ryan Jackson, Jack Pinner and Rochy Woods did well in their first entry to the event.
Easter and Woods recorded scratch wins over more experienced opposition.
* West Acre A still lead from local rivals West Acre B in the Narbeck Junior League.
Ryan Jackson (Narborough A) knocked in a 30 break against West Acre A, while Jack Pinner replied with a personal best 24.
Billy Blake recorded a season’s best 79 points for West Acre C, while Raelene Yule upped her personal best to 30 for West Acre D.
