Mark Nielsen with a trout he caught and released

ANGLING: Mark Nielson was at Blackdyke in what he described as near perfect conditions – snow, sleet rain and a strong, cold, wind.

“I only had 13 to the net, lost five or six and missed a fair few pulls,” he said, adding: “I can’t believe that only two other people were there.

“The quality of the fish is fantastic and they put up a very good fight.

“More people need to have a go there. I am mainly a carp angler but I can honestly say I enjoy the fly fishing nearly as much.

“If you are thinking about having a go but don’t have the gear, you can hire it here.”

Floating lines with the venue’s favourite lures, cats whiskers and yellow dancers, were catching most fish.
