It was standing room only when pupils at Ingoldisthorpe Primary School invited their families to a traditional Christingle and carol service.
The children spent the morning making their own Christingles using candles, oranges, a ribbon and sweets before the whole school headed over to the village church last Thursday afternoon.
Headteacher Sean Wright said lots of parents and grandparents had packed the pews and there had been a wonderful atmosphere in the church.
The service was led by the Rev Julie Boyd and closed with a candlelit carol.
Everyone was invited back to the school, in Shernborne Road, for tea and mince pies.
Mr Wright said the whole community had been involved in the service.
“It was a real family event,” he added.
“We are a family school where everyone matters and that was certainly the case. It’s part of our ethos to involve the whole family.”
The children enjoyed eating their creations after the service.
