BADMINTON: West Norfolk Junior Badminton’s Harry Wakefield was the big winner at the Under 11 Norfolk restricted tournament in Norwich.
The nine-year-old from Feltwell became a double county champion, winning in both the singles and doubles.
In the boys’ singles, he and Luc Widdowson from North Wootton were drawn in the same group and, after winning three games apiece, the decider saw Wakefield win 21-20.
King’s Lynn YMCA’s Jude Lindsay won two of his group games but team mate Jack Harvey was unlucky not to progress after winning two games.
Wakefield won his semi-final 21-16 and took the singles title, defeating Adithya Velu from North Norfolk 21-17.
In the boys’ doubles groups, Harvey and Widdowson won three out of four games in their group, which Wakefield and his partner Rohan won, so both pairs went through to the semi-finals. Jude Lindsay and Alex Holman won two out of four of their group games.
In the semis, Harvey and Widdowson lost 21-17, but Wakefield and Rohan went through and won the final 21-20.
λ West Norfolk Community Badminton Network held their first primary school competition at Alive Lynnsport, with assistance from College of West Anglia students.

In Group B, Clenchwarton Blue came out on top after winning four matches and drawing the other against runners-up St Germans.
