Henry Frost.

HOCKEY: One current and another former Pelicans player have been called up for the East of England regional elite squad.

Henry Frost has been selected for the Under 16s Saxon Tigers squad, while Phoebe Charnley, who started her hockey career with the Lynnsport-based club before moving to Cambridge City has been selected for the u18 squad.

The squads are each made up of 18 players from across the east of England.

Frost is one of only two players selected from Norfolk and will be attending some training weekends before playing in the England Hockey Futures Cup at Cannock Hockey Club over the half-term break.

The Springwood High School Year 11 pupil joined Pelicans’ first team squad halfway through last season and he is now a regular in the East League Division One team.

The coaching of Mark Jarvis at the club has helped Frost increase his skills and playing awareness and the youngster can now be found playing on both the left and right hand sides of the pitch, causing mayhem for the defenders as he runs at speed towards them with great stick/ball coordination.

Pelicans chairman Charles Lankfer said: “Henry is the first boy to get to this level within the single system for many years. All at the club congratulate him on his achievement and wish him well. This adds to the list of young players who have gone through the ranks at Pelicans to represent their country.”
