Ministerial award for Jordan Bone

A dedicated road safety campaigner has received an award from the Prime Minister in recognition of her inspirational work.

Jordan Bone,  24, of South Wootton, has been described by David Cameron as a “truly courageous woman”.

Miss Bone has devoted her life to educating young drivers after being left facing life in a wheelchair after a car cash.

Miss Bone was just 15 years-old at the time. She broke her neck in the accident and was left paralysed from the chest down.

But, instead of being defeated, she has made it her mission to share her life-changing experience with young drivers to make them aware of the consequences and to reinforce the road safety message through talks and a charity project called Fixers.

Fixers is about young people using their past to fix their future.

She has devoted thousands of hours raising awareness among young drivers, especially new drivers.

As a result, Miss Bone has been given a Points of Light award by the Prime Minister. This is presented to people who are making a change in their community and are an inspiration.

Speaking about the honour, Miss Bone said: “When I was told I had won the Points of Light award I was so surprised but very happy.

“It’s wonderful to know that the time and effort I have put into making people aware of the importance of road safety along with motivating people to have an amazing life hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“I really hope it inspires others to do something which may make a positive difference to others’ lives.”

Miss Bone continues to inspire others with her You Tube channel and Jordan’s Beautiful Life blog,  which focuses on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and motivation.

Through this she gives beauty tutorials to inspire others.

Miss Bone explained she cannot move her fingers but strives to do her own make-up. Her tutorials show others how they can do the same.

“I show over 12,000 people my skills while being positive and encouraging people to live a positive life,” she said.
