FOOTBALL: Eleven out of 12 Norfolk County FA Primary Cup first round ties saw West Norfolk sides victorious.
Unfortunately, seven of those were at the expense of other local sides, with only Feltwell Reserves going down to opponents from outside the area, losing 2-0 to Sporle.
Snettisham were one of four teams to see off non-West Norfolk sides, beating Walsingham 6-0. Two slick goals from Anton Ely in the first 10 minutes left Walsingham shocked and two more from George Green and one each for Tom Hawkins and Jack Berry finished them off. Snettisham’s man of the match was Josh Deadman.
Lynn Napier Reserves beat Shipdham Reserves 2-1, while second-half goals from Ashley Gilly and Daniel Upton Jillings sent Pentney to a 2-0 win at Necton Reserves.
All four attackers scored for Narborough in a 4-0 win over Colkirk with Robbie Howling’s curling effort from the edge of the box the highlight. Ash Borgognoni, Matty Coe and Ray Harrison also scored.
The goals flowed at Redgate Rangers Reserves, who crashed 11-3 to Castle Acre Swifts Reserves. Gary Bowman 2 and Kurtis Calaby scored the home goals.
Greyfriars hit seven without reply at home to Birchwood Reserves with Josh Bull, Gavin Nichols and Stuart Mason hitting two each and Keith Thomson one.
Ben Baxter-Hunt struck three of Watlington’s goals in their 5-2 win over East Winch. Ian Hutchison hit the other two with Lee Gardner and Mark Blowers replying.
Lewis Steggles 2 and Conney Killick scored for Northwold with Carl Curtis saving a penalty in a 3-0 win at Docking.
Flitcham & Hillington beat The Woottons 2-0 and Steven Cooke, Joseph Gowler and Toby Killingsworth netted for Marshland Saints in their 3-1 win over West Lynn.
Kieran Herbert 2, Sean Ely and Stuart Moore were Ingoldisthorpe Reserves’ scorers in a 4-2 win at South Creake. Lee Armiger and Darren Studd responded.
Dersingham Rovers needed only seven minutes to set themselves on the way to a 3-0 Anglian Combination Mummery Cup win over Mulbarton Wanderers.
Nathan Howard put them ahead after good play by Trevor Daniels and further goals after 59 and 81 minutes saw him complete his
hat-trick. Man of the match was Thomas Anderson.
Ashley Payne’s 60th-minute strike was enough for Downham Town Reserves to earn progress in the Cyril Ballyn Cup at Marlingford, while there was a winning double for West Norfolk sides in the CS Morley Cup.
Neil Goodbourne grabbed a treble for Dersingham Reserves in a 6-0 win at Hempnall with Luke Biggs, Matt Goss and David Liddell doubling the tally.
Redgate Rangers were 4-0 victors at Newton Flotman. Mark Sainty opened the scoring after great work down the left by Matt Prudence, who also set up Scott Berry to score.
Just before the break Danny Jezeph broke away from the halfway line and weaved through the defence to slot the ball under the Flotman goalkeeper.
Jezeph added his second in spectacular fashion, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper from 35 yards.
In the league, Feltwell went goal crazy in Division Four, hammering home 11 at Sprowston Athletic Reserves. James Puttock led the way with four and there was a hat-trick for Jordan Craigan. Warren Meadows 2, Louis Rumble and Nathan Wright completed things.
In Division Five, Lee Ballard, Joseph Malby and Darren Wood helped Gayton United to a 3-0 win over Harleston Town Reserves.
