BOWLS: Massingham A have won the Albert Victor Three-rink League having been runners-up last year.

A season-long tussle saw them finish 13 points clear of Wootton Park.

Globe TA and Sandringham A will make a long-awaited return to the top flight next year after seeing off a tough challenge from Bircham Railway and Houghton to earn promotion from Division Two.

Division Three was reduced to eight teams following the withdrawal of Gaywood Park.

King’s Lynn A won the division after a long battle with Tilney St Lawrence and Massingham B.

League newcomers Swaffham won Division Four by a comfortable margin, losing only two games all season. Wolferton finished a creditable second to seal promotion.

The finals of the League Cup and Subsidiary Cup competitions were played last week with Massingham A beating Tilney St Lawrence in the former and Houghton seeing off Bircham Railway in the other.

The presentation night will be at Great Massingham village hall on Saturday, October 13, 7pm for 7.30pm. Clubs wishing to attend should book their tickets via Malcolm Hipkin or Peter Wadham as soon as possible.

Tickets are £10 and include food and entertainment.
