SPEEDWAY: King’s Lynn Stars have been rocked by the news that number one, Niels-Kristian Iversen, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.
The Danish world number three crashed with championship leader Greg Hancock in the ninth round of the 2014 Grand Prix series in Gorzow, Poland at the weekend.
This has resulted in him suffering extensive knee ligament damage and needing surgery.
From now until the end of the season, the Stars will need to rely on guest riders to cover for Iversen, due to a rule whereby riders cannot be signed after August 28.
Speaking from Poland, Iversen said: “Unfortunately, the season is over for me.
“My knee is not great after the crash and I will need to have an operation in order to fix it.
“I will be back stronger and 100 percent ready for the start of next season.”
