Top TV chef Jamie Oliver surprised shoppers at a King’s Lynn store on Tuesday.

Both he and his farmer friend Jimmy Doherty were in South Wootton’s Asda supermarket filming for a television series.

West Norfolk shoppers were asked to take part in some of the filming, which centred around the issue of food waste.

“We only went in to get a few essentials after the Bank Holiday and saw there was some filming going on.

“We were introduced to both Jamie and Jimmy and then filmed with Jamie,” said Your Local Paper’s managing director Alan Taylor who was in the store with his partner Jade White.

“There were quite a few people watching what was going on and it made a shopping trip a bit more interesting,” said Mr Taylor, of North Wootton.

The first series of the show, aired earlier this year, had both presenters in a cafe in Southend cooking-up their recipes with guest stars.

Comedian Jennifer Saunders featured in the last episode of the series along with her husband Adrian Edmondson and actor Dexter Fletcher.

The new series is due to  be screened from January next year.
