FOOTBALL: New boy Kieron Doherty got Dersingham’s season under way after a false start in the Anglian Combination.
His double at Reepham Town in a 2-0 win on Tuesday condemned Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at newly-promoted Harleston Town to bad memory.
Doherty was one of four players making their debuts in South Norfolk, alongside Tom Barnes, Anthony Reeve and Jordan Pentney.
The hosts took the lead but Zac Fountain headed in an equaliser before the home team struck twice after the interval.

At Loddon on Saturday they were level at 1-1 at half-time before going down 3-2 and on Wednesday lost by the odd goal in three at Brandon Town.

The week’s top scorers were Redgate Rangers, who rattled up an 8-1 win at Hindringham Reserves, after drawing Saturday’s Division Four opener 1-1 at Buxton.
Matt Prudence grabbed their second-half equaliser in the first game and struck two more on Wednesday. Danny Jezeph grabbed a hat-trick with James Miller and Scott Berry also netting. Tom Doughty struck the goal of the game with an absolute screamer.
Nathan Peckham and Joe Allan got Feltwell United off to a winning start in a 2-0 victory over Hempnall Reserves.
Gayton United bounced back from Saturday’s opening day 8-2 crushing at Reepham Reserves with a 2-1 victory in the West Norfolk derby against Dersingham Reserves on Wednesday. Joseph Malby and Darren Wood were the home heroes. Wood also scored at Reepham, along with Tom Cunliffe.
Josh Winner scored Dersingham’s reply. They also lost their opener 2-1, with Alan Cook on target at Mulbarton Wanderers Reserves.
