Lynnsport update by Simon McKenna: On Sunday, September 14, we will be celebrating the launch of Alive Leisure with open days at each of our facilities.

Lynnsport, Downham Leisure, St James Pool, Oasis and King’s Lynn Corn Exchange will be opening the doors for a free open day, where there will be lots of activities and various sports to try between 10am and 3pm.

If you don’t want to join in, just come and have a look around each of the fantastic facilities.

During the open day, climbing club members will be looking for help to complete their challenge of climbing Everest.

Recently one of the members suffered a fall and broke an ankle during a climb in the Lake District where he was rescued by the Langdale and Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team.

From telling the other climbers his story, they all decided to organise a fundraising effort to support the rescue team.

During the weekly club nights, members will attempt to climb the height of Everest in The Hangar.

This will mean 1,770 climbs up the wall. They are hoping to finish the climb during the open day on September 14 so come along and be part of the challenge.

A skateboard workshop will be taking place in the Shed Skatepark on Tuesday, August 26.

The workshop is under the guidance of Adam Reynolds, a skateboarder and instructor for the King’s Lynn Adrenaline Sports Association.

The session offers eight to 16 year-olds of all abilities the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques in skateboarding and costs just £1.

Please take along your own helmet and skateboard.

To book or for more information, call the Skatepark on 01553 818002.
