Pupils at a number of King’s Lynn area schools will be given a boost with their studies thanks to the presentation of dictionaries.

Priory Rotary Club has expanded its Dictionaries 4 Life programme by donating almost 200 of the books.

The number has been boosted thanks to help by King’s Lynn Academy, which has contributed dictionaries for some of its feeder schools.

The Usborne illustrated English dictionaries will be handed out to Year 5 and 6 pupils by Rotary members during next month as the summer term draws to a close.

John Reed, the club’s youth services chairman, said: “We are delighted to have been able to increase the number of schools supported from three to eight as these dictionaries have proven to be very popular with the children as well as helping their literacy development.

“They help primary school children become more independent learners by extending children’s vocabulary and helping them with their homework when they go on to secondary school.”

Pupils at Greyfriars School in London Road, King’s Lynn, were presented with their dictionaries on Monday.

Presentations will take place to pupils at St Michael’s School, St Martha’s at Gaywood, Churchill Park School, Ashwicken, Reffley, Gayton, Middleton, West Winch and St Germans.
