People living in Hilgay are being urged to get behind a village bid to buy the closed Rose and Crown pub.
A group of businessmen have spearheaded a campaign to ‘Save the Rosie’ on Bridge Street and keep it as the village’s only pub.
They have called a public meeting on Saturday, June 22 at 1pm at the village hall when they hope people interested in putting money into the venture – big or small – will come forward.
Posters have been put up and flyers have gone out to households.
The asking price for the pub is £225,000 and the businessmen hope residents will pledge enough between them to make an offer and have an interest in supporting a re-opened watering hole.
If there is no interest from the villagers the campaigners will have to go back to the drawing board.
